The Rafts

Given the task to create something Bergen was missing, “The Rafts” came to be.
Our group disclosed that they lack public access to the sea - this project suggest a way to solve this issue.

The Rafts is a series of “islands” that can be placed where they are needed.
They aim to meet various needs the population of Bergen might have, in the city´s waterfront.

  • Kvikken

    Public sea-bath

This module gives the population of Bergen a place to dive into the water, with a diving-tower and accessable ramps into the ocean.

  • Hyggen

    Shelter

In the wet and rainy climate on the west-coast of Norway we wanted to create a space where the people could experience the weather, but be given shelter while doing so.

  • Peilingen

    Outdoor classroom

We wanted to include the children and create a space the local schools would be able to access. Here they can parttake in “hands-on” learning in direct contact with the ocean.
